Most vault apps ask you to upload your most sensitive data to their servers and then promise it''s safe. Lion''s Legacy takes the opposite stance: your data lives on your phone, encrypted with hardware-backed keys, protected by biometrics, and only ever leaves your device when you export an encrypted backup file.

If your phone is lost, you restore from a .lionlocker backup that is itself encrypted with a passphrase, a backup token, and an integrity hash — three layers, any of which is enough to stop a thief.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Does Lion's Legacy connect to the internet?

No. The app does not request the network permission on Android and does not request the network entitlement on iOS. Backups are created locally and only shared through your explicit action.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Restore from a `.lionlocker` backup file. The backup is itself encrypted with a passphrase, a backup token, and an integrity hash. Without all three, the backup cannot be opened.

What if I forget my master passphrase?

There is no recovery path. This is intentional. If a vendor could recover your passphrase, so could a sufficiently motivated attacker. We recommend writing it down and storing it somewhere physically safe.

How does the digital legacy feature work?

You designate an emergency contact and configure a wellness check-in interval. If you miss the check-in for the configured grace period, your contact is notified and a portion of the recovery secret is released. Combined with the secret you've already given them, this lets them access your final wishes and document locations — but never your live vault unless you authorize it.

Is the encryption open for review?

Yes. The crypto core is pure Dart, with no third-party cryptography dependencies. The full security architecture is published in SECURITY.md inside each release.

What about iCloud or Google Drive sync?

Not supported. The app does not sync. Use the `.lionlocker` export to move your vault to a new device on your terms.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The app is free to download and includes the encryption core, biometric unlock, and several vault categories. The Vault and Legacy Bundle subscriptions unlock the full set of categories, digital legacy planning, and triple-encrypted backups.
