Firefox has the strongest privacy defaults of the major browsers. The right extensions push it further; the wrong ones undo what Firefox already does well.
Worth installing
- Multi-Account Containers (built-in, but install the extension to make container management easy).
- A real password manager integration. Firefox has its own; standalone managers are still better for cross-browser/cross-device sync.
- uBlock Origin — the gold standard for tracker and ad blocking on Firefox.
When a native app is better
Same logic as Chrome: clipboard productivity is one of the categories where a native tool wins. LionPaste on Mac is the pick. Read why.
Things to skip
- Any extension that claims to "make Firefox faster" — it's almost always reducing privacy in exchange for caching aggressiveness.
- Theme bundles. Pick one theme; reduce attack surface.
